Are reusable metal straws hygienic?
In short- yes! It's no different from your other metal cutlery that you wash and reuse.
So, how are metal straws cleaned?
The reusable metal straws are easy and quick to clean by placing into the SuckerStraws basket and put through the glass-washer. The basket ensures the straws are kept uprights, maximising the available area that water can enter the straw. The baskets also provide drainage around and under the straws, so that the straws do not sit in pooled water and dry quickly. This is a process similar to having cutlery in a cutlery holder when putting through a dish-washer. Under European Standards, a commercial glass-washer must finish on a rinse cycle of >72*C for at least 15 seconds, which ensures that the reusable metal straws being washed are sterilised.
The reusable metal straws and baskets are both made from CE, FDA, SGS, LFGB Certified, titanium-electroplated, 18/8 304 anti-bacterial, anti-rust, food-grade stainless steel. The CE, FDA, SGS, LFGB Certifications indicate conformity with health, safety, and environmental protection standards for products sold within the European Economic Area (EEA), United States of America and United Kingdom.
SuckerStraws reusable metal straws are all straight to ensure maximum water movement through during cleaning. SuckerStraws are exclusively designed and manufactured with no external 'ring' indentations, ensuring that there is nowhere for grit or bacteria to build up. In contrast, most of the reusable metal straws currently on the market and being used commercially are curved and have an external ring pattern indentation.
SuckerStraws also provide two complementary high-friction pipe cleaning brushes per box of 20 SuckerStraws so that, like the rest of a venue's glasses and cutlery, the straws can be renovated on a periodic basis or scrubbed as required.
So, with no more effort than cleaning your other metal cutlery, metal straws are easy to wash and hygienic to serve to your customers!
